Just breathe
Did you know that when some people are in pain, they tend to hold their breath? Holding your breath when in pain causes the muscles in the body to tighten and actually makes the pain worse and prolonged. If a person who is in pain can focus on their breathing and breathe normally, it will actually help relieve the pain. Maybe not completely, but it should be less.
One technique that I have learned is to take a deep breath in through your nose and blow out through your mouth making a whish sound. Do this four or five times and then when you inhale imagine that you are breathing in your favorite color, when you exhale, blow out a color that you don’t like. This technique may take a few times to learn, but it could help.
